Sweater/jacket for a maxi dress?

What type of cover-up would look nice with a maxi dress that wouldn't make me look too frumpy or like I'm wearing a coat? Have an outdoor wedding reception to go, I have the dress but want some type of sweater to wear over it if it gets too chilly. Thanks for any suggestions! I appreciate links too!
