Japanese/Asian stores in the Washington DC and NYC area?

I want to find some neat Japanese/Asian stores in the Washington DC and/or NYC area (I'm trying to decide where to go on vacation). I am really into kimonos so it would be a plus if the stores sell kimono goods but grocery stores and other specialty stores (bonzai, teas, books) would be cool too. Thanks!
