What's a good medication to ask my Dr. for to get rid of this yeast infection?

I know this is an awful subject for most, but it is only natural. I keep getting yeast infections. I normally use over-the-counter (Monistat), and when I was preggos the Dr. prescribed me some stuff that I absolutely hated pushing up in me for 7 nights straight. They tend to come back a month later everytime...never fails. What can I tell my Dr. to prescribe me to make this go away once and for all. I used Diflucan once and it kept it away for about 5 mos. I also read that yeast lives in your body no matter which manner you try yo get rid of it. Is this true? If so, how do I get rid of the Candida (whatever it is). What should I do. This is ruining my drive.
